Vendor's Note
Microsoft Windows has enhanced security by the following functions:

- A host does not reply to a ping sent to a multicast address (like ff02::1).

- A host does not process a redirect that is not directly associated with a valid data transmission

- A host upon receipt of a Redirect Message, will reset the PROBE state for the neighbor cache, and 5 seconds later, continue the PROBING algorithm. This makes detection of unreachable routers more robust in scenarios with multiple routers.

Microsoft Windows implements the following power optimization:

- A host reduces the effective maximum length of the RS/RA exchange to 3 seconds.
